Keele Cup July Update
Final preparations are now in place for the Keele Cup 2010 tournament. 250 teams are confirmed including 86 national teams outside of England from 19 different countries. Wales has the largest number - 18, Scotland (16) Norway and Kenya (both 9) Ireland (8) USA (7) Nigeria (4) Egypt (2) United Arab Emirates, Sweden, Spain, Russia, Columbia, Northern Ireland, Albania, Romania and Palestine.
The Women's Competition is full. Elite teams include Everton, Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, facing the challenge of Combine Services from Dublin. Falkirk and Dundee Lead the Scottish challenge.
The Men's Open Age is oversubscribed. Previous winners Phystec from Russia make a return, as do Spanish team Allbats, and Colombia’s colourful Independante.
The youth tournament sees strong challengers from Scandinavia including Swedish champions AIK, Coventry City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Blackpool, Bristol Rovers, Watford and Port Vale play in the professional section. The amateur competition includes 16 teams from Africa, along with a big presence from Scandinavia, USA, Wales and Scotland plus a host of other countries taking on teams from all the English countries.
